Summary

Saltwater fish. Stingrays. Inshore fish, usually found in shallow water, lying partially burried on the sand.

To be confused with

- Caribbean Whiptail Stingray Himantura schmardae

Characteristics

Size: 90 cm to 1.5 m.
Colour: Vary from grey to brown olive-green dorsally and whitish ventrally.
Shape: Body dorso-ventrally flattened, with greatly enlarged pectoral fins, which give them a disc-like shape. Snout and tips of fins pointed. The tail has two venomous spines near its base.


Habitat environment and ecology

Inhabits coral reefs. Inshore fish, usually found in shallow water, lying partially burried on the sand.
