Summary:

Saltwaterfish. Jawfishes. It is a bottom-dweller in sand and coral debris, by day it remains in its burrow, wich it excavates itsself. It lines its burrow with small stones and shells.

ToBeConfusedWith:

- Yellowhead Jawfish Opistognathus aurifrons.

Characteristics:

Size: 10 to 18 cm, max 25 cm.
Colour: Greyish-olive to light tan body, with many yellow blotches and dusky markings.
Shape: Elongated with big head and mouth.

HabitatEnvironmentAndEcology:

Inhabits coral reefs. It is a bottom-dweller in sand and coral debris, by day it remains in its burrow, which it excavates itsself.
